The Race

The Caledon Pit Run offers participants a unique experience in a rehabilitated sand and gravel pit. Since the first Pit Run in 2012, we have raised $200,000 for local charities in the Dufferin-Caledon area.

Event highlights include a Kid’s Corral, sponsor expo, rock truck rides, silent auction, rock truck rides and live music provided by the Campfire Poets - a fun event for the whole family!

Originally owned by Conn Smythe in the early 1950s, the Caledon Pit produces stone used for the production of asphalt for road paving, sand used to make concrete, granular products used in road base construction, and sand fill. These products are used for road and building construction throughout the Greater Toronto Area.

The Caledon Pit has received numerous awards over the past two decades, including the prestigious Ontario Sand, Stone and Gravel’s “Award of Excellence” - an award that recognizes the pit’s many years of cumulative effort, hard work and dedication to safety, environmental stewardship, property enhancement, progressive rehabilitation and community relations.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Smart Headwaters, a transformative $18 million fundraising campaign, aimed at acquiring a cutting-edge MRI machine and other vital medical technology to enhance diagnostic capabilities and elevate patient care within our community. This ambitious campaign represents a major milestone for Headwaters Healthcare Centre and its commitment to providing exceptional health care services to the residents of Dufferin-Caledon.
