Help us raise $40,000 for Bethell Hospice

6th Annual Caledon Pit Run and Open House

Lafarge and Aecon are pleased to announce the 6th annual Caledon Pit Run. This year's event is scheduled for Saturday, July 29th, 2017 and we're very excited to see what this year's event will bring. Last year's event was a huge success; attracting over 100 runners, 300 visitors and raising $30,000 for the Caledon Public School. 

As with previous years, the Caledon Pit Run will take place within the scenic 2nd Concession of our Caledon Pit, which is located southwest of Charleston Road and Willoughby Road in Caledon. This will be a unique opportunity for visitors to experience a 5K cross-country run through an active licensed site. This year we will be adding a family 1K "Walk of Memories" to commemorate late family members of the participants and a 1K "Kid's Obstacle Course". During the event we will again be featuring an open house with silent auction, supervised kids' activities, a sponsor expo, and the very popular rock truck rides.

This year's event is being run, once more, in support of Caledon's Bethell Hospice Foundation. In 2016, Bethell Hospice (originally Hospice Caledon) celebrated its 25th year of providing community-based palliative care and compassionate support to families struggling with a life-challenging illness. Bethell Hospice is only partially government funded, and the Foundation is required to raise almost $1,000,000 each year to keep the doors of Bethell Hospice open to serve the community. There are no fees to stay at Bethell Hospice, no fees to participate in any of the Community Support Programs, and no-one is ever denied access due to financial situation. In the past years (2013 and 2015) we had cumulatively raised $46,500 for Bethell and we are hoping to raise $40,000 this year.

Our goal this year is to attract at least 300 participants to the event and we invite you to support the Caledon Pit Run. Both Lafarge and Aecon are committed to building and supporting a caring and healthy Caledon community and our pledge is that 100% of the registration fees and sponsorship donations from the event will go directly to the Bethell Hospice.

REGISTRATION FEES: 

Up to June 30:

$35 - 5K walk/run
FREE - Walk of Memories
$10 - Kid's Obstacle Course

July 1 to July 27:

$45 - 5K walk/run
FREE - Walk of Memories
$10 - Kid's Obstacle Course

On Race Day: $50*
*Shirt sizes are not guaranteed for those registering on Race Day. Sizes will depend on availability.

GROUP RATES FOR 5K:
For groups of 5 to 9 runners, get 10% off registration fee
For groups of 10 or more runners, get 20% off registration fee

Please email us before you register, with your possible list of members, to receive your Promo Code for group discounts. Group members can then register individually with the provided promo code.

2017 FOOD DRIVE:

Please bring non-perishable food items for our 2017 Food Drive, which will be donated to the pantry of: Bethell Hospice
